a curious house

Sometimes I like to imagine the house I might live in, should imagination take over all practicality.. to create a 'curious house.'

{unknown}

Naturally, the entry would be the first step into intrigue.  I adore these birds painted on the doors!

With lots of interesting things to peak the imagination.  And the cutest little owl ever would be sitting on my desk...

With corners and little spaces to read in...

Comfort mixed with curious...

Which gives a house a little mystery.

I love it all!

little green box

I found this little green metal box at an open air antique market.  Oh how it begged to be filled with nature's treasures.

The patina was fantastic and the inside was still in good condition.

Here it sits open with a glimpse of my 'brown box' from nature {more on that later}.

The abandoned nest came from England, my twin sister found it in the middle of a trail... blown from its home in the trees.  She rescued it from sure destruction and brought it back to me, a most treasured possession.

I wish you a most lovely, and curious, day!

gone fishing

I wandered around an open air antique market looking for something unique and ouside the boundary of my traditional purchases, something sentimental... and then I happened upon this small box of flies.

I have no idea if they are new or old, I just really like the colors.

What to do with them...

Not sure, but for now I will just keep them in this little box, in my small cabinet of drawers and imagine the lakes and streams they may have visited.

This one tucked inside this small dome makes me think of my dad, an avid fisherman.  Where has this fly been?

What color!  They are just as artistic as they are productive.. though I cannot recall an insect quite this attractive.

Back in the drawer they go, tucked away safely, waiting for a second life somewhere in an artistic piece, or maybe just to be pulled out once and awhile and thought given to what I could do with them and then tucked back away.  But truly, they are just so pretty on their own~

butterflies

What is not to love about butterflies?  I found these lovelies in a calendar and had to clip them out.

A scrolled journal looks great topped with this little monarch.

I found this beauty in a coaster at a thrift store.  It was something else to pry apart the little bamboo frames to pull out the wings, but I think they turned out nice.

This little porcelain figure makes a great vase... and a little more interesting with the butterfly.

When I am through with my butterflies they find they way back to this drawer.

Wishing you a curious day!
